Job Description
This is an on-site role based on our Chestnut Hill Campus
The International Student Advisor, advises international students, faculty, scholars, staff and their dependents on immigration regulations and procedures for the F-1 student visa, the J-1 Exchange Visitor visa (e.g., admission, travel, work permission, extension of stay, changes of status, transfers, etc.).
Serves as a Designated School Official for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the U.S. Department of State. Issue immigration forms and process applications (admission, travel, work permission, changes of status, practical training, etc.) through TerraDotta and SEVIS, the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.
Help ensure institutional compliance.
Provide advice to university academic departments and administrative offices on policies and procedures pertaining to the international student and scholar population.
Assist in organizing and implementing cross-cultural programs sponsored by the Office of International Students and Scholars (e.g. International Student Orientation).
Supervision Received:
Shared supervision is received from Director and Assistant Director, Office of International Students and Scholars.
Supervision Exercised:
Shared supervision for one administrative staff.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $59,400 to $74,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years working with international students and scholars in an academic or similar setting.
- 2-3 years advising on F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations and use of SEVIS required.
- Experience with MS Office and Google suites and familiarity with web-based applications and student information systems.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Some familiarity with cross-cultural programming strongly preferred.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, patience, judgment, and initiative.
- Some night and weekend work is required.
