Recruitment Range: $40,000 - $43,991 The salary range advertised is the designated recruitment range for this classification. Final salary offers will be determined by the candidates education, relevant experience, internal equity alignment, and departmental budgetary parameters.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: Postal Services provides a centralized mail service to the UNCW campus community. The University operates a campus mail facility to process all incoming, outgoing, and inter-office mail. Mail is distributed to students, staff and faculty through campus mail center. United States Postal Service contract station is operated on campus to provide mail services to campus and surrounding community
Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Lead postal associate is to provide guidance to postal team in the absence of the supervisor.
Responsibilities Include:
- Sort incoming and inter-campus mail for delivery and processes outgoing mail for all university operations for accurate and timely dispatch.
- Research unknown staff and student mail for delivery or redirecting.
- Direct deliveries and pickups of mail and parcels to selected mail stops throughout the campus and student pickup locations.
- Comply with transportation and OSHA regulations regarding the safe handling of hazardous material and heavy objects.
- Submit account payment to the U.S. Postal Services for university postage accounts.
- Provide information concerning postal and university regulations via phone and in person in regard to mail related activities during busy and high-volume periods.
- Perform related recordkeeping, including computerized cost center charge-back system, delivery log, chart of accounts and reconciles university account.
- Maintain current knowledge of U.S. Postal and other delivery service regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on mailing equipment, arranges for repairs from commercial sources as necessary.
- Maintain funds, record, and upload postage for various shipping sources and vendors.
- Process undeliverable mail and redirect to proper disposition.
- Cross-train with all mail clerks and passport employees to serve as backup as needed.
- Maintain campus mailroom supplies & inventory.
- Assist students with mailbox usage and software.
- Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
- Ensure all staff follow safety procedures and use proper lifting techniques to ensure personal health and safety.
- Oversee smart technology usage, maintenance, and training.
- Primary standard mail clerk and processor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of USPS postal regulations, operation, and resources
- Knowledge in the operation of PC and mail metering and chargeback systems
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations
- Experience working in a supervisory/lead role
- Experience with maintenance of mailing equipment and technology
- Annual certification as passport acceptance agent
Required Certifications or Licensures: Valid NC Driver License
