Lecturer in FinTech and Financial Programming
The Henley Business School at the University of Reading Malaysia is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in FinTech and Financial Programming. This 2 years fixed term contract post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the School’s teaching and research portfolio in finance and technology.
Main responsibilities:
- Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials at undergraduate, postgraduate, and master’s levels in subjects such as Financial Management, Portfolio Management, Financial Programming, Python, Machine Learning in Finance, and Econometrics.
- Develop high-quality teaching materials and contribute to course development, curriculum design, and validation processes.
- Lead modules where appropriate, coordinate teaching teams, and ensure effective delivery of course objectives.
- Provide academic leadership and actively participate in departmental committees.
- Engage in continuous improvement of teaching through feedback from peers, students, and external examiners.
- Conduct independent or collaborative research, publish in peer-reviewed journals or book chapters, and contribute to the School’s research profile in finance, business economics, and programming.
Requirements:
- A PhD (or near completion) in Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Programming, or Econometrics.
- Strong academic background in finance, potentially supported by a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.
- Expertise in programming in finance, econometrics, and Python, with broader knowledge of business economics.
- Minimum one year of teaching experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated contribution to teaching innovation and curriculum development.
- A developing research portfolio with publications or plans for peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills with an awareness of diversity and inclusion.
Additional Information:
The post is based at the University of Reading Malaysia campus. Frequent interaction with UK and Malaysia-based staff, students, applicants, and external partners is expected. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Henley Business School and may also work closely with relevant programme leads.
