Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Real-time Process Control for Li-ion Battery Electrode Fabrication
About the role
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant or Research Assistant with relevant experience to join the Control group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by The Faraday Institution and is fixed term to 30 September 2026.
This project addresses the need for process control on electrode fabrication lines for lithium-ion batteries (LiB’s). You will be responsible for:
- Developing models and simulations of the electrode fabrication process, sensors, and actuators.
- Developing a demonstrator of a soft sensing system that predicts battery performance and properties from fabrication line measurements.
About you
Hold (or be near completion of) a PhD/DPhil in Control Engineering or a related subject, with the possibility to underfill Grade 6 (£34,982 - £40,855 p.a.) if the candidate holds a relevant degree/Masters and is working on a PhD/DPhil.
Be able to actively engage with industrial partners.
Be able to manage your own academic research and associated activities.
Have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
