Job Summary The department of Philosophy, Religion, and Interdisciplinary Studies at Georgia College and State University has 2 job openings at the rank of Lecturer to begin August 2026. We are seeking excellent teachers who can recruit majors into the Philosophy and/or Interdisciplinary Studies programs. The successful candidates will teach courses in Philosophy, Religion, or Interdisciplinary Studies at the undergraduate level and will be expected to mentor students. While the lecturer position is non-tenure-track, lecturers are eligible to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer after 5 years. Responsibilities Faculty - Teaching/Instructing - Teaching Responsibilities
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring Students
- Other teaching responsibilities
Required Qualifications We are seeking a candidate with one or more of the following Areas of Specialization (AOS):
- Philosophy of Law with the ability to mentor pre-Law students.
- Philosophy of Technology with the ability to speak to issues such as AI Ethics.
- Philosophy of Film
- Philosophy and Literature
- Abrahamic Traditions with the ability to incorporate feminist and queer perspectives
- Demonstrated ability to teach discussion intensive classes
- Demonstrated ability to teach writing intensive classes
- Demonstrated ability to teach courses that include diverse perspectives, related to the US and globally
Preferred Qualifications We are seeking candidates with some of the following expertise:
- Feminist perspectives
- Global perspectives
- Ability to mentor pre-Law students
- Philosophy of Science
- Philosophy of the Mind
