LEO Lecturer I in Environmental or GIS Sciences

The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters is seeking a LEO Lecturer I in the Earth and Environment Discipline to teach ESCI 485, Spatial Analysis and GIS, in the Winter 2026 semester which begins on January 7, 2026, and ends on April 30, 2026. Contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500; term salary is prorated to the number of sections taught and course effort percentage. Based on performance and enrollment, Lecturer may be re-appointed for the Fall 2026 term. The expected effort of this appointment is 33.33%.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Prospective candidates should minimally possess a graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as: GIS, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or Biology. Relevant work and teaching experience in the GIS field is desirable. Strong communication skills are needed. Previous teaching experience and professional experience in the environmental field is preferred.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
