About the opportunity

This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) 

The Student Engagement Officer (Identified) provides and promotes high quality client focused service by providing in-person and online advisory and student engagement programs across Library sites with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences to support students and provide access to the information resources and services required to support the learning, teaching and research of the University’s staff and students as well as the community users. 

The Student Engagement Officer (Identified) provides support and guidance to the Student Engagement team to ensure consistent high-quality delivery of client focused engagement and information services. 

The University Library reserves the right to transfer, roster or rotate the location of this position to any of its Library sites based on workloads, professional development, or business needs. 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead on the delivery of high quality client-focused frontline information services
  • work with the Manager to develop and deliver high-quality client-focused student engagement services.
  • digital literacy to manage and use multiple technologies to provide support for self and clients
  • maintain physical collections including returns, shelving and stocktake activities,
  • lead on activities to deliver services within a designated Service Group such as Technology, Frontline, Student Experience, Fulfillment and Concert Support
  • Act as a mentor and/or encourage other team members to improve and develop individual skills. Utilise skills, knowledge, and experience to mentor Student Engagement Advisors in innovate practices, processes and/or procedures at work.

About you

  • holds relevant tertiary qualifications with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • hold a working With Children Check
  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • demonstrated computer skills in a range of word processing, database, spread sheet and web-based software
  • evidence of adopting a positive approach to customer service, taking responsibility for follow up and ensuring that internal and external clients’ needs and expectations are met
  • demonstrated ability to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, including effectively prioritising workload during busy periods
  • experience in contributing positively to a team, leading on accomplishing team goals and mentoring other team members as and when required.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
