The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at the University of Cincinnati, headquartered in the 1819 Innovation Hub, serves as the university’s central engine for transforming cutting-edge research into impactful real-world solutions. Job Overview
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Technology Transfer, the Licensing Associate assists in identifying and evaluating university technologies to support their transfer to external partners. The selected candidate will work closely with researchers to understand their innovations, develop an understanding of the relevant intellectual property and technology landscape, prepare non-confidential summaries, and support coordination with the commercialization team to create opportunities for UC’s technology portfolio. The Licensing Associate will gain experience supporting technology development and managing intellectual property in an academic environment. The Licensing Associate will develop strong working relationships with university researchers, intellectual property counsel, and colleagues in the Office of Innovation and the Office of Research. The Licensing Associate will also work collaboratively with other members of the Technology Transfer team, including the Commercialization team, to support coordinated engagement across the University of Cincinnati.
Essential Functions
- Monitor, review and track data use agreements, material transfer agreements and confidentiality agreements, including maintaining any related databases.
- Perform market research on new technologies/inventions.
- Develop marketing materials for new technologies/inventions.
- Assist with identifying and recommending the best licensing candidates.
- Assist with reviewing and negotiating option and license agreements for technologies.
- Assist in educating UC faculty, students and staff on Intellectual Property and UC’s related policies.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships between UC and industry as well as other academic institutions.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or related field.
Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
One (1) year of experience in academic technology transfer; scientific or research/development; contract compliance; licensing in an intellectual property setting, or related field.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Salary/Hourly Pay Rate Information: up to $65,000 annually based on candidate experience
