"Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Faculty Position(s)"

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston seeks outstanding applicants for tenure track positions. The department is especially interested in developing new faculty at the Assistant Professor level, but more experienced applicants will also be considered. We seek to expand our research profile in all areas of the microbial sciences, but applicants that study protozoal or helminthic parasites are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and postdoctoral experience and will be expected to build an extramurally-funded research program and to contribute to graduate and medical education. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should have a track record of innovative research at the cutting edge of microbiology and the capability to develop an independently-funded laboratory. Applicants at the Associate Professor level must have an established, respected, and well-funded research program. Successful candidates will receive generous start-up funding, a salary commensurate with experience, newly renovated space, and a competitive benefits package.

MMG is a vibrant community of talented and successful faculty, trainees, and staff, and has a proven record of excellence in research and education. Research in the department focuses on mechanisms of fundamental life processes alongside microbial pathogenesis, using a variety of bacterial, fungal and parasitic systems. The core interests of the MMG faculty include gene regulation and stress responses; cell division and differentiation; macromolecular machines; molecular mechanisms of bacterial, fungal, and parasite pathogenesis; and host-pathogen interactions.
