Postdoctoral Research Associate in Microbiome and Olfaction
The Tucker lab is seeking a postdoc for a two-year project funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) to study the role of the microbiome in olfaction using mouse models. The role involves investigating interactions between the olfactory system and the microbiome as part of a team in the Tucker lab and in collaboration with Prof Mike Curtis at King’s College London.
The postdoc will explore the impact of the host and maternal microbiota on the development and maintenance of chemosensing. Responsibilities include planning experiments, performing research, analyzing data, managing the mouse colony, maintaining lab records, ensuring health and safety, contributing to team activities, and promoting a positive research culture.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with a fixed-term contract until September 30, 2027. Candidates must have experience in developmental biology, regenerative biology, or olfaction; interest in microbiome-host interactions; experience in molecular biology and imaging; a PhD in a relevant area; and be a team player. Desirable criteria include original research publications, presentation skills, experience with mouse models, and knowledge of bioinformatics.
The salary range is £45,031 to £52,514 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance. The position is at King’s College London, with opportunities for professional development.
To apply, submit a CV and supporting statement detailing how you meet the essential criteria. For further information, contact Abigail Tucker. The closing date is August 25, 2025.
