Molecular Pathologist - Assistant Professor to Associate Professor FH-1797
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lifespan is seeking an academic Molecular Pathologist for the Lifespan Health Care System which includes Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Newport Hospital, Bradley Hospital and outpatient physician group practices. The laboratory performs molecular pathology testing and oversees the precision medicine testing plans for the health care system.
The successful candidate must qualify for a full-time medical faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants must have a PhD, MD/DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree and be board-certified or board-eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Candidates with prior molecular diagnostics experience in a high-complexity laboratory, preferably in a university hospital or comparable institution, are ideal.
Diagnostic expertise in molecular pathology and the development of new testing services in the molecular pathology area will be expected. There is an opportunity for a leadership position, depending on candidate’s qualification and experience. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent research program in the general area of molecular pathology. The candidate will also be expected to participate in teaching Pathology residents and other residents and fellows in the Brown residency programs, teaching in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine courses, and supervising clerkships for medical students at Brown University.
