  • Base Salary $126,065 - $142,171 (HEO8) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Microscopy Australia is seeking an experienced National Network Coordinator to lead and strengthen collaboration across its nationally distributed microscopy facilities. Working within the central Microscopy Australia team and under the broad direction of the Chief Executive Officer, this role coordinates initiatives that bring together platform scientists, facility leaders and researchers. The position plays a key role in reducing geographical barriers, strengthening capability and enabling world‑class research outcomes across Australia.

Applicants from all locations across Australia are encouraged to apply, with flexible and remote working arrangements supported.

About the team

Microscopy Australia is a consortium of university‑based microscopy facilities united by values of collaboration, accessibility, excellence and innovation. Funded by the Commonwealth Government under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), relevant state governments and with co‑investment by institutional partners, Microscopy Australia’s mission is to enable world‑class outcomes from Australian research by providing essential infrastructure to see the world at the micro, nano and atomic scale.

Each year, over 4,000 researchers from universities and industry use our instruments and expertise across facilities around Australia, with a further 100,000 users worldwide accessing our online training tools and resources. Microscopy Australia staff enjoy the benefits of working at the University of Sydney, including a good work‑life balance within an ambitious, yet caring and diverse workplace.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead and coordinate Microscopy Australia’s national networks across a geographically distributed organisation
  • build strong relationships with platform scientists, facility directors and researchers
  • develop and deliver national initiatives that strengthen collaboration and capability
  • coordinate professional development and training programs for microscopy staff
  • support technique development and knowledge sharing across facilities
  • track engagement, outcomes and impact for reporting and continuous improvement.

About you

  • demonstrated experience in one or more microscopy techniques (e.g. SEM, TEM, optical microscopy)
  • extensive experience coordinating programs or projects in complex, multi‑site environments
  • strong experience working within research infrastructure or higher education settings
  • proven ability to operate autonomously and influence across diverse stakeholder groups
  • experience working across nationally distributed or multi‑site organisations, including coordinating stakeholders across different institutions
  • postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Sponsorship / work rights for Australia

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
