Responsibilities
Department Summary
The Department of Music is made up of 26 full-time faculty and seven part-time instructors. It offers a comprehensive music program whose faculty and students present over 150 performances a year. The Department is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. For more information, https://www.valdosta.edu/colleges/arts/music/
The incumbent will perform with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and/or other VSU ensembles for all rehearsals and performances as assigned.
Typical Allocation of Duties:
- Coordinate activities within a department - 40: Create, develop, and implement activities to achieve department objectives.
- Achieve goals - 20: Work to accomplish the goals of the department through campus and community outreach, program success, and maintaining compliance.
- Provide customer service - 20: Communicate effectively with university constituents and customers by explaining instructions, answering questions, and providing solutions.
- Administrative support - 20: Provide support to a department including but not limited to clerical duties, data gathering, technical support, event scheduling, etc.
Required Qualifications
Required Experience: High school diploma and one (1) year of related work experience.
Proposed Salary
$20/hr

Position Requires completion of VSU's Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
