Salary: Grade 4: £28,437 - £32,108 per annum (pro rata)
Contract type: 12 Month Fixed Term Maternity Cover
Hours: Part time (14.6 hours / 0.4 FTE)
About the role: The Faculty of English Language and Literature seeks to appoint an Operations Assistant to support the administration of a large and busy faculty. The postholder will work as part of the Faculty Office team, who provide a first point of contact for visitors to the Faculty, staff and students, and will provide support across a range of areas, including maintaining the Faculty membership list and mailing lists, administering the Faculty’s graduate travel grant scheme, assisting with event organisation, and supporting the Communications Officer with subtitling and editing video content and updating the Faculty’s website.
This post is part-time (0.4FTE) and the expectation is that the postholder will work these hours across 4 mornings per week.
Due to the nature of the Faculty Office’s work, the postholder will normally be expected to work on site, although there may be scope for occasional remote working.
Maternity (or other family) leave cover post: This post is to cover the absence of the substantive postholder, who is taking a period of maternity leave. The post is available until 30 June 2027 or the actual return of the substantive postholder, or the resignation of the substantive postholder and employment of a new postholder, whichever is the earliest.
About you: You will be able to work on your own initiative and will possess good attention to detail and organisational skills. You should have previous experience of an office environment, good IT skills and be capable and confident in dealing with a wide range of individuals, including students, academics and external visitors, working as part of a team in a busy, but friendly, office.
