Job Summary
The goal of the PACT (Personalized Achievement Contract) program is to foster a well-rounded personalized college experience by working collaboratively with each student in developing and completing an individualized plan for success. The PACT Counselor will coordinate a variety of essential services and programs to support the transition to college, academic planning and progress, social connections, leadership experiences and career exploration. Mercy’s PACT Program is nationally recognized by Excelencia in Education for identifying and promoting evidence-based practices that help accelerate Latino Student Success (2020) as an ‘Innovation in higher education by The American Council on Education (ACE) in their report to the White House (2010). The PACT Counselor will connect students to both internal and external departments and organizations for opportunities that will directly enhance the student’s experience.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary advisor and mentor for a designated student caseload
- Provide academic advisement to each student, from initial registration to major/degree selection
- Engage students in career discussions early on, providing linkages to career resources for skills training and internship/job opportunities
- Facilitate workshops on career paths
- Assist in pre-enrollment and orientation activities reinforcing the importance of a collective, integrated college experience geared toward academic and career success
- Coordinate with other Student Services departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals
- Any other duty as may be assigned
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
