Pay Range: $1,440 - $1,700 per credit hour

Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:

The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach ARI 374 Screenprinting, a three credit hour course, during the Spring semester, 2026.

Introduction to the fundamentals and advanced techniques of screenprinting. Students will create limited-edition screenprints using hand-drawn and digital methods. Additional work for graduate students.

Qualifications:

• MFA or equivalent.

Job Specific Qualifications:

• Experience teaching a variety of water-based acrylic screen-printing techniques & approaches.

Responsibilities:

The course is a 3 credit, once per week, 14-weeks, 5-hours per week in the classroom, 10-hours per week for preparation.

• Teach 15 weeks of 4.5 hours per week, develop syllabus, lesson plan, assignments, hold office hours, grading, maintain a clean studio, hold critiques.
• Must have extensive experience in screen printing, understand hand methods and digital methods, knowledge of color theory, color mixing, operation of exposure unit, spray out booth, vacuum tables.
• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
• Meeting all designated class periods.
• If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.
• You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
• Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.

Physical Requirements: Some lifting associated with printing processes.
