Pay Range: $1,440 - $2,000 per credit hour (prorated)

Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:

The College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University is seeking a Part-time Instructor to teach Language Disorders in School-Age Children for the Spring 2026 semester.

Course Description:

CSD 731: Theory and research in oral and written language processing interventions. Curriculum-based assessment; intervention strategies for children and adolescents with language/learning disabilities. Compensatory strategies, environmental adaptations, cultural considerations, behavioral and pharmacological management, motivation, social skills instruction. Background in normal language acquisition and assessment procedures required.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.

Qualifications:

• CCC in Speech Language Pathology.
• PhD preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

Part-time Instructor duties will include the following:

• Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
• Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
• Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments.
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
• Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
• Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
• Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
• Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations.
• Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
• Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
• Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your departments policies for part-time instructors.
