Position, Department: Part Time Human Resources Assistant, Human Resources

Type of Position: Part-time Regular, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday 8:00-1:30, 25 hours per week

Pay Range: $16.31-$20.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: Perform a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties to support Human Resources (HR) operations at Johnson County Community College (JCCC).

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field preferred. Two (2) years of administrative experience, preferably in a human resources or academic setting.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and the HR operations team in all areas of human resources.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for questions and concerns for applicants, staff, faculty, or visitors. Manage walk-in traffic and answer phone calls. Transfer callers to the appropriate parties and take messages in a prompt and courteous manner. Provide back-up support for general front desk coverage during the absence of full-time HR Assistant.
  • Answer routine questions on HR policies and procedures. Forward complex inquiries to the correct HR subgroup team members for response.
  • Maintain and update personnel files, records, and databases in compliance with college policies and legal requirements.
  • Track and monitor employee documentation, such as certifications, evaluations, and contracts.
  • Prepare HR-related reports, forms, and correspondence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and institutional information.
  • Assist with data entry as needed. Ensure data accuracy and completeness in HR databases and all files.
  • Participate in HR-related projects as assigned, providing support to achieve project goals.
  • Follow established procedures in processing I-9s for new hires into the E-Verify system to verify identity and determine employment eligibility.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including filing, scheduling, and correspondence.
