"Part-Time Leader, Supplemental Instruction (SI) - Centers for Academic Success - FY 2026"

Job Description

Supplemental Instruction Leaders attend all class meetings of a selected course, take notes, and read all assigned material. They plan and conduct 2-3 study sessions per week throughout the term, using strategies learned in SI Leader training. SI Leaders may work on Charleston Campus, Henderson Campus, North Las Vegas Campus, or one of the CSN learning centers.

Qualifications of Tutor Applicants

• Have an earned overall college grade point average of at least 3.0 - Transcripts must be submitted
• Have earned B or higher in the class for which you are applying to be an SI Leader
• Demonstrate during the interview good communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work with students from varied backgrounds and skill levels.
• Demonstrate knowledge of effective study skills and strategies during interview
• Having previous Tutorial or Supplemental Instruction experience in subject matter is a definite plus.
• Provide a recommendation from a faculty member that teaches the subject you wish to tutor.
• The maximum amount of hours a tutor or SI Leader can work is 20 hours per week. If you are also employed as a tutor or at another department at CSN or any other Nevada State Higher Education Institution, your hours will be combined and you cannot exceed 29 hours at both locations per week.
