"Pathology Support Technician (FTC)"

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Pathology Support Technician. Based at the Sutton Bonington Campus, this role supports vital post-mortem and dissection activities within the Vet School.

Technicians in this role play a key part in assisting veterinary pathologists with post-mortem examinations, including the collection and storage of tissues and specimens. They also support general laboratory operations and contribute to the smooth running of the pathology service. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety in the post-mortem room, operating specialist equipment, receiving and handling animal submissions, and transporting samples between facilities and a full UK driving licence is essential.

We are seeking a candidate with strong communication skills, a basic understanding of biology and anatomy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The role requires physical capability to lift and move items over 10kg and a flexible approach to a varied workload. Basic IT skills and an understanding of health and safety procedures are essential. Candidates must have a Full, current drivers licence and a minimum of GCSEs (grade C and above) in Maths and English or equivalent, or relevant work experience in a similar technical role.

This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours per week). Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered with prior agreement from relevant line managers.
