Position Description

This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash-handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions

• Verify eligibility using payor portals
• Contacting patients for insurance updates
• Verifying patient’s copay or deductible at time of service
• Updating patient records with insurance information and patient estimates
• Schedules appointments as necessary and notifies staff of any changes
• Assist with patient phone calls in a call center environment for clinic overflow
• Adheres to company HIPAA policies and procedures. Identifying, maintaining and protecting sensitive HIPAA information (PHI) and following procedures to ensure the security of such information.

Required Qualifications

A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
• Knowledge in Insurance Authorization

Occasional Duties

• Other duties assigned by supervisor
• Floating to offsite clinics for coverage as needed.
