About the role

A central purpose of the Patients Communities and Healthcare (PCH) placement is to enable students to integrate biomedical, psychological and social sciences, humanities, clinical skills and professional values during the first two years of the medical degree. During years 1 and 2 of their MBBS course, groups of 4 or 8 students will spend regular sessions at a local GP practice. Through early patient contact, practice-based experiential learning and facilitated tutorials, students will learn about person-centred medicine, multidisciplinary working and reflective practice.
The postholder will lead and manage the placement and work with the Faculty Development Team to oversee the recruitment, retention & professional development of community GP tutors. The post holder will be required to develop, deliver and evaluate this placement, supported by the Undergraduate Primary Care Education Unit and ICSM.
