Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION:

Salve Regina University is seeking a reliable and professional Per Diem Van Driver to provide transportation services for students, faculty, and staff. This on-call position supports campus mobility during the academic year and summer sessions, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate University vehicles safely and courteously.
• Respond to scheduled and last-minute transportation requests.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and enforce University policies.
• Ensure all passengers are seated and wearing seatbelts.
• Report incidents, accidents, or violations promptly.
• Complete trip documentation accurately.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is classified as an 'essential position'. During the academic year, when students are on-campus, employees who occupy an essential position ('essential personnel'), may be required to be on campus during emergencies, when work and/or classes have been cancelled. Essential personnel will be notified by their supervisor if they're required to be on-campus during such emergencies.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Valid RI driver's license (or equivalent).

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Exposure to varying weather conditions.
• May involve nighttime driving and occasional out-of-state travel.
• Physical activity includes walking, lifting, and stair climbing.

Requirements:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum age: 18 years.
• Valid RI driver's license (or equivalent).
• Clean driving record (no moving violations in the past 6 months).
• No history of DUI or substance-related driving offenses.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with Rhode Island Motor Vehicle Code.
• Must pass a university driving and written test (minimum score: 80%).
• Must pass a non-DOT physical and any required screenings.

Preferred:

• Ability to operate a Non-CDL Recreational Motor Home (RV) is preferred but not required.
• RV Training will be provided for qualified candidates.
