Duties/Responsibilities:
Conduct field and laboratory research on weed management, harvesting cotton, and developing computer algorithms for rover insect pests of peanut and their relationship with aspergillus mold and aflatoxin. Duties will include: working with industry partners to assess research needs, developing and implementing novel research that addresses aflatoxin risk reduction, collecting and managing data. (Percentage of time: 60)
Analyzing and interpreting research results and writing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals, writing proposals. (Percentage of time: 25)
Teaching labs and developing curriculum. (Percentage of time: 10)
Supervision/coordination of hourly workers and/or graduate students. (Percentage of time: 5)
Position Summary: 1) development of training materials for advanced technology training for farmers, 2) developing weeding system using lasers and mechanical weeding and 3) improved post-processing handling of peanuts to reduce aflatoxin contamination.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification: PhD
Physical Demands: Driving.
