Postdoc Co-Creation and Impact Monitoring of Digital Support for Sustainable Farming Practices
Job Summary
This position involves contributing to the PHITO project by designing a systematic approach to tailor digital advice for small and medium farmers (SMFs) and measure its impact on sustainable farming practices. The role focuses on analyzing user needs, compiling best practices, and developing indicators for economic and environmental performance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze user needs assessment data from farmers in the 7 food systems of the PHITO project and refine farmer typologies and linkages to personas for the PHITO app.
- Compile best practices, assess them in terms of costs, prerequisites, knowledge required, and rank them based on improved economic and environmental performance.
- Develop food system-specific indicators to measure the impact of PHITO for SMFs, coordinate with partners to monitor effects on farms, and assess project impact.
- Write project deliverable reports and publications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- PhD in environmental and natural resource management, agroecology, social sciences with an environmental focus, or similar interdisciplinary fields.
- Demonstrable experience in creating farmer typologies or farming system characterizations.
- Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills with a focus on monitoring and evaluation or impact assessment.
- Proven ability to implement conceptual approaches in applied research and practice.
- Proficiency in one or more languages of the PHITO food system areas (e.g., Portuguese, Spanish, Italian) is an advantage.
- Creative, proactive, flexible, with strong organizational and communication skills, and awareness of challenges faced by SMFs and interest in digital technology for sustainable farming.
