Postdoctoral Associate

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Earth, Atmospheric & Planetary Sciences, to work with the Climate Modeling Alliance (CliMA), a multi-disciplinary team spanning MIT, Caltech, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, focused on developing a next-generation, GPU-based climate model that learns physics from data to improve the accuracy of its projections. Will collaborate with oceanographers, mathematicians, and software engineers to develop, validate, and use the ocean component of the new climate model, which leverages the Julia programming language to make it flexible, easy to use, and easy to extend and develop.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D., in applied mathematics, atmospheric or oceanic sciences, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, or a related field by the date of hire; strong physical, mathematical, and computational background; experience with programming in at least one general-purpose language (preferably Julia) and parallel computing; demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills; self-motivation with and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research; strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; and ability to deliver results, adapt to change, work on research proposals, and work in team-oriented environments.
