Postdoctoral Associate (Ma Lab)
The laboratory of Weiji Ma at New York University (www.cns.nyu.edu/malab) is looking for a postdoc to study human adaptive planning.
Research description: The research will be part of a program that aims to understand how people plan in complex environments. Previous work in the lab has laid the foundation for cognitive modeling of complex planning and for a quantification of planning effort. The current position is to investigate when and how planning strategies and planning effort adapt to external factors. Specifically, we are interested in collaborative planning, where multiple human agents have to make concerted sequential decisions to achieve a joint goal. We will study collaborative planning using behavioral experiments, eye tracking, and computational modeling.
Job description: As a postdoc in the lab, you will be involved in conceptual development, experimental design, data collection, data analysis, computational modeling, manuscript writing, and dissemination of results. There may be opportunities to co-mentor Ph.D. students. You will be part of the lab community and will have access to the broader cognitive science, neuroscience, and data science communities at NYU.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Ph.D in Neuroscience or related discipline. We are looking for someone with expertise in conducting human behavioral experiments (ideally with eye tracking) and in building principled computational models of behavior.
