Postdoctoral or Senior Research Fellow
The Faculty wishes to recruit a full-time Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to lead qualitative research assessing the acceptability of a new cancer innovation within the NHS. It is called HELP Flag and is: i) an alert for possible cancer for GPs that appears on primary care blood test results; ii) an accompanying patient management pathway. This post is funded by the NHS Cancer Programme with support from SBRI Healthcare and the Accelerated Access Collaborative and is available immediately to 08th June 2027.
The post will include: For Research Fellow: Leading qualitative research including focus groups and interviews, analyse complex data, disseminate findings to a range of different audiences, develop own research objectives, identify sources of funding. For Senior Research Fellow: As above with additional responsibilities for providing academic leadership and line management responsibilities.
About you: The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and will be a nationally recognised authority in qualitative methodology and possess in-depth understanding of how to apply qualitative methods in real-world, early evaluations of health innovations to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field. Applicants will be able to demonstrate expertise in the delivery and analysis of focus groups and one-to-one interviews. They will have experience of conducting qualitative research within NHS settings (or equivalent) and will have a passion for research that directly impacts clinical practice.
