Position Highlights

The Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department (AME) at the University of Arizona is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral candidate in experimental mechanics under the direct supervision of Dr. Kavan Hazeli. The research project will investigate high temperature behavior and deformation mechanisms of additively manufactured (AM) bi-metallic alloys, specifically under cyclic loading.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform experimental mechanical testing and microscopy analysis.
  • Present research at national and international conferences.
  • Assist or write proposals related to ongoing research projects.
  • Publish journal articles.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Doctoral degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or other related field of study. Must have PhD conferred upon hire.
  • Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1234b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in high temperature materials testing, microscopy and data analysis.
  • Experience in MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience in high temperature behavior and deformation mechanisms of additively manufactured (AM) bi-metallic alloys, specifically under cyclic loading.
