Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in MACSYS to join School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science.
We are recruiting a motivated post-doctoral fellow to join the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS); the world’s largest focused research initiative in mathematical biology. MACSYS brings together mathematical, computational, and biological scientists to generate the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive. The position is intended for applied mathematicians. In addition to the primary responsibility of undertaking research that advances the MACSYS mission, there may also be opportunities to contribute to undergraduate or postgraduate teaching in the mathematical sciences. The successful candidate will have expertise in computational mathematics, mathematical modelling with continuum models, and mathematical modelling with stochastic models are required for the applied mathematics positions

What you need to succeed
- Completion of a doctoral qualification in applied mathematics or equivalent discipline.
- Demonstrated experience mathematical modelling.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or Julia).
- Demonstrated academic research experience evidenced by publications in high quality research journals.
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including presenting findings to academically diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a team environment, internal and external stakeholders, and the wider research community.
Additional selection criteria for Level B:
- Experience with biological data analysis and interpretation in terms of mathematical modelling.
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers from biological sciences is preferable, but not necessary.
- Potential or demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree students effectively.
