University of California Riverside
The Kenchanmane-Raju lab in the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at the University of California, Riverside, anticipates openings for Postdoctoral Scholar Series appointment with strong experimental and computational expertise to contribute to understanding the cell-type specific responses to environmental and developmental cues. Kenchanmane-Raju lab uses state-of-the-art single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq, methylomes, and chromatin accessibility), comparative genomics, and integrative data science to understand crop adaptation and the evolution of gene regulatory elements across species.
The successful candidate will work on one of the two following themes, with the opportunity to develop a self-directed project aligned with the lab research goals and future aspirations. Cis-regulatory element evolution and gene functional diversification
Cell-type-specific environmental responses for climate resiliency in crops Expectations and job duties: The ideal candidate should be a team player, leading a few projects, and willing to work with other members of the lab. The postdoc will design and implement experiments and computational analyses in single-cell genomics, develop integrative pipelines for multi-omic data analysis, collaborate with computational and experimental scientists, contribute to manuscript preparation, fellowship and grant proposals, mentor graduate and undergraduate students and participate in lab and social activities.
Who should apply
- a recent Ph.D. in plant biology, computational biology, genomics, bioinformatics, systems biology, or related fields,
- experience with both wet-lab genomics (e.g., gene-editing, cloning, sequencing library prep, histology), and computational analysis (e.g., R/Python, single-cell data, machine learning).
- strong publication record and excellent communication skills,
- interest in interdisciplinary research that bridges lab, field-based, and computational approaches
Initial appointments are typically for a two-year term, subject to exceptions, and may be eligible for renewal. Salary and level will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The current base pay range for this position is $66,737 to $82,836.
