Job Description:
The Director of Early College High School Programs provides administrative leadership and management of the SUNY Old Westbury pre-collegiate college readiness programming office. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month, in-person position.
Duties:
The Director of Early College High School (ECHS) Programs is responsible for coordinating, developing and maintaining dual credit and dual enrollment early college high school programs. The position works closely with counselors at partner high schools to build enrollment and create pathways to enrollment as full-time SUNY Old Westbury students following high school graduation. The position ensures that the Early College Programs are administered in accord with guidelines established by the University, the NYS Education Department, and Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Candidates should have knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title IX, ADA and other applicable laws pertaining to education.
Overarching duties include grant proposal writing, program development, staff hiring, supervision and evaluation, budget management, and design for inclusive success for low-income, first-generation and other underrepresented demographic college bound populations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervise/Coordinate Program and Collaborative Activities:
- Build relationships with local high schools, especially those in traditionally underserved districts, to promote a culture of academic success and continuance to college, while facilitating matriculation to SUNY Old Westbury.
- Work collaboratively with Enrollment Management and the Registrar to ensure special registration assistance for students in ECHS programs.
- Coordinate with academic Deans and Department Chairs on course offerings and instructor credentialing.
- Oversee all concurrent enrollment programming, including program development, University policy and compliance, and adherence to compliance standards for accreditation (e.g., MSCHE).
- Facilitate direct service to participants (including parent involvement), communications with Local Educational Agency (LEA) personnel and other educational organizations, and coordination of university-related efforts to support college readiness programming with high school partners.
- Collaborate with all pre-collegiate programs at SUNY Old Westbury to buttress academic pathway credentialing opportunities at SUNY Old Westbury for all the pre-collegiate students.
- Conduct student and family orientations and facilitate related developmental workshops and activities.
- Work with professional staff and faculty across the University to establish and support programming, both credit and non-credit bearing, to support student success, campus visits, high school visits, and professional development for instructors.
- Manage the training, supervision and evaluation of personnel associated with ECHS programs, which may include college work-study students and volunteers.
- Pursue accreditation through the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnership.
Planning, Budget Management and Program Evaluation:
- Create and implement the plan to meet the annual goals and objectives of the ECHS Office.
- Coordinate and prepare annual program and assessment reports for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external partners to support assessment and reporting requirements to respective state and federal agencies.
- Manage the fiscal resources that fall under the auspices of the ECHS Office, including state/institutional and extramural funding.
- Pursue opportunities to build and develop programming through extra-institutional funding sources, which may include grant-writing and other fund-raising activities.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's degree from an accredited college/university.
- A minimum 3 years' experience in an educational setting in pre-collegiate college readiness programming and/or student success or related programs.
- Demonstrated experience developing partnership relationships.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Cultural competence and ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and report presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience with budget development and budget monitoring.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Ability to use data for assessment and program development purposes.
- Experience with higher education student database systems.
- Ability to prioritize work functions and related tasks, resolve programmatic and participant-related problems/concerns, and meet deadlines.
- Must have and maintain the appropriate valid driver's license.
- Must have and maintain a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in education, educational administration, counseling or related field.
- 3 plus years' experience in pre-collegiate college readiness programming.
- Demonstrated experience with grant writing and grant management.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $62,596.00 - $75,000.00 (plus location pay $3,400.00) commensurate with education and experience
