Position Details

The Department of Physician Assistant Medicine in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Principal Faculty position beginning in Fall 2025. This position includes the opportunity for appointment as Associate Program Director, depending on experience and alignment with program needs.

The University of Tampa's Physician Assistant Medicine Program is accredited by ARC-PA and is located in a state-of-the-art health sciences complex in the heart of downtown Tampa. The program is committed to excellence in graduate education, a student-centered learning environment, and innovation in healthcare education.

Position Summary

The Principal Faculty member participates in all aspects of PA education, including didactic and clinical instruction, student assessment and remediation, curriculum development, program evaluation, admissions, and mentoring. Principal Faculty are full-time members of the academic team and report to the Program Director.

If appointed as Associate Program Director, the faculty member will also assist in the administration of the program and support the Program Director in strategic planning, accreditation compliance, faculty development, and program operations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies (or equivalent)
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in PA education
  • Strong commitment to professional development and graduate education
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Doctoral degree (e.g., DMSc, PhD, EdD, DHEd, etc.)
  • Previous experience as PA faculty or in PA program administration
  • Familiarity with ARC-PA accreditation processes and standards
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, assessment, or simulation-based education
  • Interest or experience in assuming program leadership responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach across the didactic and/or clinical phases of the curriculum
  • Participate in the ongoing review, design, and evaluation of the program curriculum and instructional delivery
  • Serve on program and university committees
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Engage in scholarly activity and professional development
  • Participate in student admissions, including holistic application review and interviews
  • Participate in the ARC-PA accreditation and self-study process
  • If serving as Associate Program Director, assist with program management, faculty onboarding and support, and representation of the program in administrative matters
