Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification, the role of the PDS Liaison serves as a key connector between the University and a partner school in Manhattanville's Professional Development School (PDS) network. These partnerships are designed to support: teacher preparation, ongoing professional development, collaborative inquiry and research, and enhanced student learning.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with PDS Designee to provide clinical sites for practicum experiences for Manhattanville University teacher candidates to fulfill coursework field observation hours and student/supervised teaching requirements;
- Supervise Manhattanville University teacher candidates placed in the PDS for field observation hours or student/supervised teaching experiences;
- Lead/coordinate at least two events, hosted either by the PDS or Manhattanville University, each academic year, on topics mutually agreed upon by the Liaison and the PDS Designee;
- Work with teachers to identify areas of professional development interest and coordinate such interests with university faculty;
- Develop, coordinate, and lead projects and programs related to professional development interests and partnership goals;
- Work with university and school administrators to develop and implement an assessment of the PDS;
- Work with university and school administrators and faculty to organize events between the university and the school district;
- Attend School of Education Partnership meetings, and give monthly report of activities;
- Help to collect data about the PDS's progress; and
- Complete monthly, end-of semester, and end-of-year report of accomplishments and goals.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration platforms.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education
- Certification to teach elementary, secondary or special education
- A minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching.
- At least 3 years supervisory experience preferred
- Experience teaching diverse populations of children or youth
- Availability during the school day hours
Salary:
$3,000 per semester (Fall and Spring only)
Hours Expectation:
Part-time, 8 hours per week
