ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN THE HEALTH SCIENCES DIVISION
POSITION: Professor, Health Information Management
Description of Duties: Teach fifteen (15) credit hours per semester and maintain regular office hours per week. Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials to ensure courses are up-to-date. Work in collaboration with other faculty members to teach didactic and laboratory components. Stay abreast of emerging trends and changes in best practices for Health Information Management courses and programs. Faculty responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, serving on various Program and campus committees. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director. This is a ten (10) month, tenure-track position. The hours may vary and may require some evening and weekend assignments. This position is subject to random drug testing as set forth in the College’s Policies and Procedures Manual.
Minimum Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree. Current certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Demonstrate current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
Desired Qualifications: Master's Degree or working toward a Master's Degree. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician based. Three (3) years’ experience working in the Health Information field. Previous teaching experience.
