Our Department of Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering offers study programs that meet industry needs in the design of electrical, electronic, photonic, and computer systems and their components. These programs are oriented towards computer systems, telecommunications, digital processing, industrial control, energy transmission, vision, and microelectronics. Faculty members lead numerous research projects, many in close collaboration with industry, around three main axes: power electronics and industrial control, telecommunications and microelectronics, and imaging, vision, and artificial intelligence.
Job Function
The Department of Electrical Engineering at ÉTS is seeking professors with a background in engineering and expertise related to the electrification of transportation. The research and teaching activities of the selected candidates will complement those already in place in the department.
Desired Areas of Expertise:
- Magnetic systems for transmission, clutch, braking, or suspension,
- Power management,
- Wireless charging,
- Any other relevant topic related to the main field.
Job Description
Within a dynamic research team, the selected candidates will:
- Teach at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels in fields related to electrical engineering;
- Supervise graduate students;
- Apply for funding and grants from Quebec, Canadian, or international government agencies, industries, municipalities, or foundations;
- Conduct funded or contractual research projects with industry and professional environments;
- Develop research programs;
- Publish scientific articles.
Requirements
- Hold or be about to obtain a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or any other engineering relevant to the field of expertise;
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or take the necessary steps to become one before submitting the tenure dossier;
- Have research experience in collaboration with industry or solid industrial R&D experience;
- Demonstrate excellent skills in training highly qualified personnel through research projects and teaching;
- Master spoken and written French in accordance with the ÉTS Language Policy, or demonstrate a willingness to learn French and commit to a francization process supported by ÉTS.

Compensation
This position leads to tenure. The attainment of tenure, salary scale for 2024-2025 (see C-6 in the collective agreement), and benefits are determined according to the standards of the collective agreement of the Association des professeurs de l'ÉTS (APÉTS) in effect.
