Position Overview
The Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University invites applications for the Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Social Psychology. We welcome candidates from all areas of social psychology, especially in attitudes, social cognition, stereotyping and prejudice, intergroup relations, health, relationships, emotion, or social and affective neuroscience. We seek an individual with international distinction and a demonstrated commitment to advancing and leading the field of social psychology.
The successful candidate will contribute to foundational theory-building and basic research in social psychology. They will have rich opportunities to collaborate with a vibrant and interdisciplinary academic community. This includes faculty across research areas in the Department of Psychology (social psychology, behavioral neuroscience, cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, decision science, developmental psychology, and research focused on intellectual and developmental disabilities; IDD) and across the university. Faculty in the Department of Psychology collaborate extensively with colleagues across campus and are actively engaged with research centers and institutes including the Collaborative on the Science of Polarization and Misinformation (CSPAM), the Decision Sciences Collaborative (DSC), the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS), the Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Brain Imaging (CCBBI) and the Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI).
Performance Objectives
- Maintain a distinguished research agenda evidenced by publications in leading journals and scholarly outlets, alongside sustained efforts to secure external funding.
- Design, teach, and continually enhance undergraduate and graduate-level courses that advance the departments academic mission.
- Provide mentorship and academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their professional and scholarly development
- Engage actively in departmental governance and service, contributing to collaborative decision-making and administrative responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, including a robust research portfolio. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is essential.
