Overview
The Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy (HCOP) invites applications for a Professor of Practice position to support our undergraduate degree program, Bachelor of Science in Drug and Biopharmaceutical Sciences (DBPS). This is a unique opportunity to educate the next generation of scientists, and the associated workforce needed to support the growing needs in this field. This role is designed for accomplished professionals with significant experience in pharmaceutical research who are passionate about providing students with a deeper understanding of drug development and pharmaceutical sciences. The Professor of Practice will bring real-world expertise into the classroom, bridging academic learning with professional application. This is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE, non-tenurable appointment in which the individual will work with HCOP faculty and staff to provide premier educational experiences for our students. The position is based on the Auburn campus.
The program is designed to provide an innovative, instructional and research-intensive academic environment with the capacity to meet the challenges of preparing undergraduate-level students for entering newly emerging pharmaceutical sciences career tracks. Undergraduate students will experience an innovative instructional and research-intensive academic environment, providing a deeper understanding of drug development and pharmaceutical sciences.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participation in the DBPS curriculum with undergraduate students including small and large group instruction, active delivery of educational content, and assessment of pharmaceutical sciences-related skills and knowledge (grading assessments).
- This position will have 1.0 FTE allocated to teaching in the undergraduate program (DBPS).
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners to support program goals, maintain accreditation standards, and foster an engaging learning environment.
- Facilitate, oversee, and grade skills-based laboratory activities and exercises.
- Advise and mentor students in both laboratory and didactice-related projects.
- Facilitate and grade assignments as needed throughout the curriculum.
- Assist with the management of courses.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Applicants must have earned an MS, PhD, Doctor of Pharmacy, or equivalent degree at the time employment begins.
Desired Qualifications:
- Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have residency, fellowship, post-doctoral training, previous teaching or research experience in academic or industry settings, or other relevant credentials.
