Position Summary:
The program director will be responsible for all aspects of the Certified Medical Assistant program, including but not limited to administration, organization, and supervision of the program both on campus and at clinical sites; continuous quality review, risk management, and improvement of the program; and academic oversight, including curriculum development and outcomes. Additional responsibilities include participating in program admissions and orientation events, as well as representing the CMA program on college-wide committees and teams.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach medical assistant education and clinical courses each Fall and Spring semester in the weekend on-campus format.
- Evaluate student didactic performance and providing remediation as needed.
- Actively engage as a core faculty member through student advising and mentoring.
- Contribute to program development through course design, curricular innovation, and support of program initiatives.
- Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement efforts, including evaluation of program effectiveness and compliance with CAAHEP accreditation standards.
- Assist with student recruitment, admissions, and orientation activities.
- Provide service to the program, the College, and the broader community.
- Engage in scholarly and other activities consistent with the expectations of academic faculty in teaching, scholarship, and service as outlined in the faculty handbook
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with counseling agencies, professional associations, and licensure boards.
- Adhere to FERPA guidelines related to confidentiality of student information and records.
- Ensure compliance with College policies, procedures and NYSED regulations and accreditor requirements.

Required Qualifications
- Credentialing in good standing in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), or under International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
- Experience in and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and supervision at the collegiate level.
- Medical or allied health education and training, with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience related to the profession of medical assisting.
- Documented education in instructional methodology.
- Experience working with diverse and/or underrepresented student populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in online, hybrid, and face-to-face teaching formats
- Associate’s degree in a related health sciences discipline from an accredited college or university, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in the professional discipline.
- Minimum of one year experience as an instructor or higher in a CAAHEP accredited program (highly preferred).
- Evidence of proficiency in curriculum design, program evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Salary range: $65,000–$74,000
