Program Manager
Oversees the development and management of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity's Hooper Undergraduate Research Award, Student-led Projects in the Arts, Creative Activity, and Scholarship, Urdea Collaborative Award, Shuler Research Mini-grants. Responsibilities include: working with departments across campus to promote grant opportunities; managing recruitment, hiring, and operations for all programs; supervising a student worker; and, working with the OURCA team to organize and implement the annual Undergraduate Symposium. Symposium-specific duties include managing purchases of marketing materials, student registration, event planning/execution, and recruitment and training of external volunteers/alumni/donors to judge student projects. This role helps to achieve the primary objective of the department by increasing the number and diversity of faculty and students supported in their engagement of research, creative, and scholarly activities. This position works with a variety of stakeholders across campus and serves all academic departments.
Responsibilities Include
- 65% - Program Management: Lead implementation, management, review, and revision of select programs and actively promotes opportunities in research, creative activity, and scholarly projects. Includes recruitment of faculty mentors, marketing of programs to students, budget management and planning annual budget allocations, training of program participants on program expectations/procedures, 1:1 check-ins with researchers, approving researcher hours, coordinating travel, planning multiple events related to each program, evaluating outcomes, generating annual reports. Assist with the planning and execution of the annual Undergraduate Symposium. Work with multiple stakeholders on campus to plan event for 1,500+ attendees. Review over 700 student applications and work with Director to coordinate sessions, communicate with participants. Manage all planning and execution details related to student presenters. Oversee the planning and execution of the OURCA Showcase & Reception.
- 10% - Employee Supervision: Supervise at least 1 student workers to support marketing and administrative duties for OURCA. Assign daily tasks, conduct regular reviews, provide constructive feedback, manage schedule, approve time. Approve time for up to 100 student researchers in various OURCA programs.
- 15% - Budget oversight: Manage $100k budget for research awards. Oversee the requests and allocations of FWS for student researchers. Collaborate with grant programs and campus partners to supplement pay for student researchers.
- 5% - Program Development: Work with Director to plan and implement new programs to increase the number and diversity of students engaged in undergraduate research, creative, and scholarly activities. Evaluate existing programs and modify as needed for maximum reach and effectiveness.
- 5% - Other: Coordinate outreach events, track student interactions and participation, annual strategic planning and goal setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 1 year of project management experience.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and procedures of the assigned work unit, budgeting and accounting principles, organizational practices and principles.
- Skills: Program development and execution, previous supervisory experience, coordination of activities, evaluating data, establishing priorities, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), marketing software (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva), survey creation and administration via online software (Google Forms, Qualtrics).
- Abilities: Works independently, communicates effectively, exercises good judgment and professionalism, organized; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, willingness to learn new technological tools, promotes a diverse, inclusive environment.
