About Us

The Senior Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research is responsible for fostering and facilitating clinical and translational research across Einstein and Montefiore. They also direct the Harold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), which has been continuously funded since 2008 by a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). The ICTR is part of a national consortium of ~60 CTSA hubs and plays a critical role in accelerating the translation of biomedical research into health improvements for the Bronx and other communities. The ICTR provides research infrastructure, services, and training programs to promote translational research and foster collaborative, team-based science that engages diverse stakeholders and communities.

The Data Science Institute at Einstein is a new cross-disciplinary institute dedicated to advancing biomedical data science through research, education, and collaboration. The DSI supports methodological innovation in statistics, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on applications to clinical, translational, and population health research. The Director of the DSI leads these efforts, fostering partnerships across departments, centers, and institutes.

Position Responsibilities

The Program Manager will report jointly to the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research and the Director of the Data Science Institute (DSI) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This position is essential to supporting the operational, strategic, and programmatic activities that advance clinical and translational research and data science initiatives at Einstein and Montefiore Health System.

The Program Manager will play a central role in managing, coordinating, and implementing a range of programs and activities that support the missions of both the ICTR and DSI. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee the development and dissemination of strategic internal and external communications and outreach materials related to clinical and translational research opportunities, including a biweekly research newsletter.
  • Develop and implement processes to identify funding opportunities and facilitate connections between investigators, resources, and collaborators.
  • Assist with the administration and management of pilot funding programs, including application processes, review coordination, and progress tracking.
  • Support the planning and implementation of new educational and career development programs in clinical and translational research.
  • Coordinate meetings, retreats, and events that promote collaboration and strategic alignment across departments and institutions.
  • Coordinate DSI events, seminars, workshops, data science pilot funding program, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Design internal and external communications and execute strategies to raise visibility of DSI activities and resources.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and project management support for DSI-led research initiatives and grant submissions.
  • Support the development and implementation of new training programs and educational resources in data science.
  • Support cross-disciplinary collaborations in data science across Einstein and Montefiore.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in science-related field and 5+ years of related experience required.

Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field (public health, data science, clinical research, healthcare administration, communications, or related disciplines); Minimum of 3-5 years in program administration, coordination, or management roles; Experience in an academic medical center, research institute, or federally funded program strongly preferred; Familiarity with NIH-funded programs (especially CTSA or similar infrastructure grants) is a plus.

Project and Program Management: Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage complex programs with multiple stakeholders; Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work on time.

Communication and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community partners; Excellent oral and written communication skills, including preparation of reports, presentations, and promotional materials; Ability to build relationships and foster collaboration across departments and disciplines.

Technical and Analytical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello); Facility with data management tools and platforms is desirable (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics, etc.); Ability to quickly learn and navigate institutional systems (e.g., grants management platforms, IRB systems).

Scope of Responsibility: The Program Manager will work collaboratively with administrative staff across the ICTR and DSI, delegating and coordinating efforts as appropriate to ensure timely, accurate, and seamless completion of projects. They will ensure alignment with Einstein's institutional policies and procedures and support compliance with all regulatory requirements.
