Program Manager
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Manager for the Office of Research at the New Jersey Medical School.
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Research the primary purpose of the Program Manager's position is to provide administrative oversight, perform a variety of administrative functions, provide overall administrative support to the Assistant Dean for Research, Faculty Mentoring Program, and Director of the Faculty Studios Program. Provides oversight of fiscal and operational activities within the Office of Research. In conjunction with the Assistant Dean for Research identify new funding sources, coordinates quarterly newsletter, helps organize the internal research grants program, and is responsible for purchasing, compliance, and policy procedures for this function. Supervise activities of department program assistant, develop goals, and coordinate all assigned duties.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Oversees all administrative aspects of the annual poster session for the NJMS Summer Student Program (creates flyers/brochures, makes logistical arrangements, secures guest speakers, directs interaction with students and faculty mentors, organize poster competition and recruits judges.
- Develop new techniques, programs priorities, goals, and streamline workflow for submission of volunteer, college intern and high school intern applications for NJMS.
- Responsible for hiring, firing, performance reviews. Supervise activities of two direct reports, develop goals, and coordinate all assigned duties.
- Assists with the Faculty Mentoring Program and Faculty Studios Program and administrative functions of program.
- Help organize submissions for faculty disclosures to the Conflict of Interest Committee as well as train faculty/staff on the submission process.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field plus four (4) years of progressively more responsible administrative experience in a government agency, university setting or large business office with responsibility for office management and presentation of reports; or a Master's Degree plus three (3) years of related experience.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in an office, University or healthcare environment required.
- Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.
