Project Manager Special Projects (Communication)
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager, Special Projects (Communication), in the Department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
The Project Manager, Special Projects (Communication), will be responsible for creating a departmental wide communication plan for the Department of Medicine at NJMS. This position will work with the Chair of Medicine and other departmental leaders to develop a clear and concise communication plan for the department, and in coordination with the Vice Chair Administration will have overall responsibility for the execution and ongoing development of the departmental communication plan. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the annual report process, and provide high level, content writing and project management, for special projects as required by the Chair of Medicine and Vice Chair Administration.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Work with the Chair of Medicine and other department leaders to develop a communication strategy for the department.
- Will take the lead in the creation, execution, and ongoing development of a communication plan for the department.
- Serves as the content writer and editor for the Chair and other senior leaders within the department.
- Provides a high level of support to the department leadership which requires working with Division Directors and Program Directors across all divisions of the Department of Medicine, as it relates to communications, content writing, and special projects.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for department leadership such as Chief of Service Report and the annual State of the Department reports.
- Assists department Chair and other department leadership with presentation preparation.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master's Degree (Communications, Journalism, or Business preferred) and a minimum of five (5) years of appropriate experience in desktop publishing, journalism, writing, and editing, or a Bachelor's Degree plus seven (7) years of experience as indicated.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
