The Opportunity

Join the Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering (Tyree IHealthE) as part of a team driving the translation of innovative medical technologies from bench to bedside—enhancing healthcare practice and improving outcomes for patients, healthcare professionals, and the healthcare system.

Tyree IHealthE has an opportunity for a Project Officer – Clinical Engagement and Innovation. In this key role, you will drive, facilitate, and expand the institute’s engagement with clinicians and other partners in identifying unmet needs, while providing practical and efficient project support for healthcare innovation translation projects and stakeholders.

Additionally, this role involves supporting the delivery of a broad range of activities and tasks to meet established milestones as part of the implementation of the Tyree IHealthE innovation translation strategy. You will be responsible for providing analytical and project coordination support, building internal and external relationships, and contributing to the successful delivery of IHealthE activities.

The role reports to the Head of Strategy and Innovation, IHealthE and has no direct reports.

  • Salary, Level 6: $103,866 to $110,801 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • Fixed term contract – 2 years
  • Aiming for February 2026 start
  • Location: Kensington/Randwick – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Medicine and/or Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS, M.D.) or bachelor’s in medical or health field or related area.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and building relationships with diverse groups of healthcare professionals from different areas of clinical practice
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare innovation, commercialisation and translation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
