Functions as the secondary source of instruction in the lab or workshop in support of the instructor of record. Assists students in completing lab projects by providing necessary instruction. Provides logical support ensuring the lab/workshop is set-up and prepared with all required tools and materials for the assigned class. Maintains all expendable/consumable supplies. Ensures all tools and equipment are accounted for and maintained in appropriate working order. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the lab/shop. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, Lab Assistants may be required to perform other duties as assigned in connection with the overall running of the Aviation Maintenance Program. Must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate knowledge of specific technical skills in the lab to a diverse student population. Must have the ability to collaborate with students and peers in order to establish a safe environment where safety is not compromised. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of airframe, engine and general aviation topics.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma/GED and minimum two (2) years’ relevant industry experience. Federal Aviation Administration certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic license
