Registered Nurse
Job Duties
Seeking a highly motivated registered nurse to provide professional nursing care to students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh through assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention to ensure physical and mental well-being. Utilizing advanced assessment skills and nursing protocols, the registered nurse will provide direct care for minor acute illnesses, via in person and phone triage, and manage clinic schedules to maximize clinic efficiency. The registered nurse will take an active leadership role with supervising student staff, assist with freshman student orientation, provide guest lectures, and participate in outreach events. Must be able to perform clinical job responsibilities independently with direct supervision guidance and consultation by licensed, board-certified providers.
Anticipated working hours include 7:45am-4:30pm Monday through Friday during the academic calendar with reduced or limited hours during scheduled academic breaks and summer. Must commit to a flexible work schedule which might include some evening and/or weekend hours throughout the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
(75%) DIRECT PATIENT CARE:
- Provide patient care nurse visits utilizing standing orders with support from a licensed provider, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, interventions, and evaluation.
- Provide health education based on evidence-based practice resources and best practice guidelines.
- Administer medications and injections per standing order or provider order.
- Obtains lab specimens per standing order or provider order such as rapid strep, drug screens and urine specimens.
- Provide in-person and phone triage services for patients.
- Document interactions as part of the permanent medical record.
- Initiates and provides emergency care as needed, including intravenous therapy.

Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Wisconsin or Nurse Compact License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification or the ability to obtain within 1 month of start date.
