Reimbursement Analyst - Government Reimbursement - HYBRID FT Days
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Reimbursement Director, performs objective and advanced level work in providing ongoing government reporting and analytic services in support of the University of California Irvine Health System's strategic missions. Charged with providing analytic services and consulting expertise to all levels of management. The position requires a high level of Medicare/Medi-Cal reimbursement expertise, financial analysis, technical skills, creativity, organizational and project management ability. Coordinates all Federal and State cost reporting activities to ensure that the Health System receives maximum reimbursement consistent with Federal and State regulations. Responsible for Provider Enrollment for all facility-based enrollment related updates. Represents the Health System to state and federal agencies, prepares appeals and assists with settlement negotiations for governmental audit disputes. Must possess strong leadership and professionalism in dealing with all customers, internal and external to the Health System. Provides reimbursement consulting assistance to management at the Medical Center and School of Medicine to promote financially sound decision making. Incumbent is a Health System liaison with agencies representing Medicare, Medi-Cal, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, and CHAMPUS/Tricare.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient computer skills to be able to generate complex spreadsheets, reports, presentations, summaries and briefs
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with staff and senior management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Healthcare/related field and / or equivalent work/education experience
- Ability to work independently to formulate processes and analyze data
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- 4 years of experience and/or equivalent work/education experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years' experience in healthcare auditing, three of which were in a reimbursement governmental program or similar role
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations
