The Department has an international reputation for research, leading an extensive range of development projects, special interest groups and doctoral studies. The Development Education Research Centre, the Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research and the Centre for Holocaust Education are situated within the Department and contribute to its success.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant on a part-time basis at .40FTE. The role will involve supporting the team with the research and evaluation elements of the project. This will include helping shape the approach to research and evaluation, developing research instruments, transcribing and analysing interview data, analysing evaluation data and supporting the literature and research reviews in the related fields. Expertise with quantitative and qualitative or mixed methods studies will be expected.

The salary being offered for this post is between pro rata £39,148 to £41,833 per annum (inclusive of £5,197 per annum London Allowance), at UCL Grade 6B, spine point 25 to 28

The post is available on a fixed term contract, initially funded until 31 August 2026.

Job-share may be considered.

About you

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in relevant subject area, or currently working towards completion. You will have proven knowledge of research techniques and methodologies in a key field of educational research and evidence of publication records. You will have familiarity with research in the social sciences and evidence of contributing to research bids. In addition, you will have ability to teach/demonstrate research methods and techniques and proven ability to analyse and write up data.
