Research Officer (Identified)
Full time Fixed term role for a dedicated and organised Research Officer (Identified) until 30 June 2027 to support the nationally significant Occasions of Care Explained and ANalysed (OCEAN) Research study. Base Salary $112,628 + 17% superannuation.
About the opportunity: This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). The Senior Research Officer (Identified) plays a key role in shaping and delivering research initiatives that align with the university's strategic priorities. This position supports the OCEAN study, an innovative research project collecting and analysing clinical activity data from nurses, physiotherapists, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners. The resulting dataset will provide the first evidence base of its kind, highlighting the contribution of these professions to primary care in Australia.
Your key responsibilities will be to: work closely with academic researchers, project teams, and external partners; guide research direction and priorities; champion best practices and innovative methodologies; oversee the day-to-day operations of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker and Health Practitioner stream of data collection; oversee research documentation and publication strategies; foster collaboration and respond to stakeholder queries.
About you: Demonstrate the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultures; hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent; have experience in scientific literature searches and managing research data; demonstrate capability in research administration; have worked in a research-intensive environment; possess proficiency in research software.
