Researcher in Social Geography of the Coast
Job Summary: As a researcher in the Building with Nature lectorate, you uniquely connect the latest developments in landscape with human behavior and experience. You will conduct practice-oriented research on natural, soft forms of coastal defense such as sand replenishments, reefs, mudflats, and salt marshes, focusing on the societal impacts of interventions in the coastal zone. You will work in a team to execute research and educate students to become entrepreneurial, innovative, and driven professionals in a sustainable world.
Responsibilities:
- Independently conduct practice-oriented social science research, including executing surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
- Statistically analyze and interpret research results.
- Contribute to scientific publications.
- Co-supervise students in internship and graduation research projects.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A completed relevant Master's degree, such as Social Geography, International Land and Water Management, Physical Geography, or Cultural Sciences.
- Knowledge of setting up and distributing questionnaires, statistical analysis of questionnaires, and setting up, supervising, and analyzing focus groups.
- Knowledge of or affinity with natural processes and management of coastal landscapes.
- Experience with geographic information systems.
- Good knowledge of Dutch and English in speech and writing.
What the Employer Offers:
- A 1-year appointment with possibility of extension based on performance.
- A gross monthly salary between €3,376.72 and €5,377.13 for a full-time position (according to the collective labor agreement for higher professional education).
- 8.3% end-of-year bonus, 8% holiday pay, and possible contributions for travel costs or home office.
